Stormwater Control Measure at EK Powe Elementary

This book was written to educate the EK Powe Elementary School Community and other folks in Durham, NC, about the environmentally sustainable *stormwater control measure* (or SCM) that turned a flooded playground into an engaging learning and gathering environment.

The book contains before, during, and after photos of the project, with accompanying text that explains how site preparation and construction served to divert the flooding water to natural areas that filter pollutants out of the stormwater before it flows into the downstream creek and waterway.

This is a Can-Do book about environmentally responsible land use that will interest children of all ages. The proceeds from its sale go toward maintaining the SCM, including native plants, on E.K. Powe Elementary School’s playground.
