Give your kids the gift of practical STEM education while supporting a Community Public School
To help educate the students and school community about the “stormwater control measure” installed on the big playground at E.K. Powe Elementary School (in Durham, NC), I've created a picture book containing before, during, and after photographs with text explaining the reasons and mechanisms behind the changes.
The book is entitled Stormwater Control Measure at EK Powe Elementary and is now available for purchase, with *all proceeds* going to the EK Powe Elementary School PTA(~$3.50/bk).
Whether or not they have any idea where EK Powe Elementary School even is, I promise this book will provide your kids with understanding and scientific literacy related to environmentally sustainable stormwater management. AND you will be supporting a public elementary school with your purchase!
It is written for grades 4-7, though K-3 children can (and do) certainly understand the concepts when guided by an adult reader. Italicized words throughout the book are defined in a glossary at the end; but your children will enjoy the photos of the demo and construction regardless of the words used to explain them.
