Mandolin Orange, Faith, Incompetent People and Myanmar

My #ThemeSong today is a set by Chapel Hill's Mandolin Orange, a folk duo led by married couple Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz, both 31. Their music is relaxing, positive, and thought provoking - perfect for the drive to or from work. (Thanks bro :-) .)

My Quote for the day:

Here's my self-help Video for the day. I watched it with my 10YO, and he agreed it was worth our time - both to remind us not to toot our own horns and to teach us tolerance or at least understanding when others do so.

And here's my Living History lesson for the day. I was unfamiliar with the background of the current tragic events in Myanmar until I watched Nick Schifrin's short but informative summary of the situation on the PBS News Hour (below). It's a worthwhile use of your next 5 minutes.

That's all from me for today. Still need to review prospective Agent #3 (yes, it's slow going) before I head off to Boston to check out Berklee School of Music with my 17YO, whose application was recently accepted to study Music Production. I welcome any advice and suggestions regarding his dream college and ways to fund his four years there (or to talk him into going to much more affordable and also impressive UNC-Asheville for Music Tech instead).

If you missed my last post - a hands-on lesson plan on Plants and Spring Planting - you can view it here: http://www.melissarooneywriting.com/blog/2021/03/lesson-plan-spring-planting/.

As always, thanks for checking in and commenting if you feel inclined. I miss my often lengthy discussions on Facebook.
